All the Fun of the Fair

The thought of 22 coachloads of Brownies – over 1,000 of them - being disappointed by a key ride being out of action was simply too much to bear for Mick Coleman, the operations manager of the 32 hectare Diggerland attraction near Castleford in Yorkshire.

During a safety check the day before the attraction was due to open, the JCB machine used for the 'Spin Dizzy' ride blew a hose. Requiring an immediate repair out of hours didn't present a problem for Coleman, as he knew Pirtek operated 24/7.

Pirtek Wakefield MSST Chris Fenton was duly dispatched to the park, and 'Spin Dizzy' was soon back in action, just in time for the arrival of the demanding Brownies the following morning. Coleman was suitably impressed.

"Originally, Chris just popped in on a courtesy visit, but his timing was immaculate because we were having trouble locating a leak on another machine. Within minutes Chris had found the leak and repaired the hose,” Mick Coleman concludes. “Realising that we’d found our hydraulic expert, we started to use Pirtek Wakefield for emergency hose and valve repairs, as well as a diagnostic service, which was particularly useful because all the machines are restricted to make them suitable for children. With anything up to 100,000 visitors per annum, we can't afford to take any chances or to have unscheduled downtime that would disappoint the children."

As if repairs aren’t enough of a problem without helpers like these!
